What is Kyphoplasty?

A compression fracture or a break in your vertebra is often quite painful. It can result in your spine bones rubbing against one another. Surgery can help treat such fractures. For example, kyphoplasty can be done without a hospital stay where a physician injects a cement mixture to give your vertebrae height and strength.

People who may benefit from the procedure include those with bones weakened by cancer or osteoporosis, a disease that causes loss of bone density.

The procedure is used to mend recent fractures. However, they are not used as a preventative tool.

If you or your provider believe you may be a candidate, our health care team at South Lake Pain Institute is happy to provide you with additional "you" specific information and reccommendations.
