PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Facial Rejuvenation

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a revolutionary therapeutic approach used in cosmetic facial procedures and in the treatment of hair loss. Also known as the, “Vampire Facial” made popular by Kim Kardashian. Since then, there has been a large amount of research and clinical evidence demonstrating PRP’s regenerative properties for the treatment of scars, minimizing pores, fine wrinkles, volume loss, hair loss and skin rejuvenation.

What is PRP?

PRP is a form of cosmetic injectable treatment that uses the client’s own platelet rich plasma. The plasma component contains growth rich platelets. When injected back into the skin, it accelerates the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin to provide overall skin rejuvenation.

How will the PRP Facial Work?

Firstly, a topical anesthetic is applied to the area that will be treated. Next, our clinician will draw a small sample of blood. This is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the other blood components. Finally, the platelet rich plasma is then reinjected back into the treatment area, which will stimulate collagen and elastin production.

PRP has a number of benefits. The treatment can improve skin texture and tone, reduce fine lines and scarring, and stimulate collagen and skin cell production for a plumper, more radiant complexion.

Who is a Candidate for Facial PRP?

PRP is great for anyone who is concerned by any areas of skin that are starting to lose elasticity and volume. It’s also a highly effective method for stimulating your body’s cells to produce new, healthy-looking skin. It is extremely effective for that delicate under eye area where often clients notice signs of ageing first and where no laser can be used. It is also used to increase the structural integrity and health of the skin, particularly sun damaged skin.

What's the Evidence on PRP for Facial Cosmetic Procedures?

PRP has been used extensively for decades for its wound healing properties in cardiovascular surgery, orthopedics, podiatry, neurosurgery, dental and maxillofacial surgery, urology, dermatology and plastic surgery. PRP boosts facial rejuvenation, volume, glowand reduces the appearance of scars. Research evidence supporting PRP for facial aesthetic rejuvenation procedures have reported positive results according to a critical review in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery®, the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Will my insurance cover the procedure?

Stem cell Injections (BMAC) and PRP are currently deemed “investigational/experimental” by insurance plans and therefore are not covered.  These services are available on a self-pay basis.

What Will my Recovery Time and Results Be?

PRP and Stem Cell treatments involve minimal to no downtime. Consult with your clinician to determine if you could benefit from PRP cosmetic treatments, recovery and potential results for your unique situation.

Most patients require multiple sessions to obtain desired outcomes. We recommend 1 treatment per month for 3 treatments for best results, although these treatments can be spread out over a longer time period, if necessary.
